happy birthday to my older sister sarah! just wanted to wish her a wonderful day and blog a couple of memories:
the incident of the tote: we were on a family vacation camping at ocean shores and we were going to spend all day at the beach. the people at the campground told us of a nice beach that had a little walk to it. we decided to go there, but little did we know the little walk was about a mile or so on a narrow trail through a thick forest... we had packed a few totes full of food, beach games, towels, etc, so it ended up being quite the hike trying to lug all of our things to the beach. (mom and dad had 6 kids at the time --i think megan was the youngest--and this was also the time megan got left at the campsite, but that's another story). anyways, sarah and i kept on fighting during the walk (i think we were about 12 and 10 years old). i have no idea what we were arguing about, but it most have been annoying my dad pretty badly because he finally gave us one of the heavy totes to carry together. i think he was trying to teach us a lesson of working together and teamwork. each of us had to hold one side of the tote to carry it to our destination. i think we kept fighting though because it was a narrow trail and hard to maneuver with such a large tote.
sarah and i kind of didn't get along so well growing up--maybe we were still mad about carrying the tote, or maybe because we were so close in age, or maybe just a personality clash, or maybe because we always fought about clothes, but we did grow closer as we got older (and more mature) and even more close while both at byu. sarah was pregnant with grace and carter was probably 1 or so and sarah and jim ended up moving really close to us. it was fun to be able to walk to her house and play games with them on the weekends, or go walking in the mornings together, or to the pool and do cannonballs off the diving board! and we finally were able to get over our issues of sharing clothes-- now we share maternity clothes!
sarah and grace flew out to visit us 2 summers ago in north carolina. it was fun to have them visit and we had a blast playing at the beach.
credit cards.... :) gibby?
sarah is a great sister, mom, and friend. she is very strong in her beliefs and never wavers in the things she believes in. she served a mission in the dominican republic and i can tell what a great experience that was for her--her knowledge of the gospel is great and her testimony is so strong. she is a hands-on mom and grace and claire are 2 very lucky little girls. i wish we got to see you more often sarah. i love you so much and hope you have a great day! happy birthday...
